Fresh Water
Good fresh water capacity is a must for an off grid camper. You’re going to need at least 100 litres, bearing in mind an average shower uses around 45 litres. Even if you adopt a lean approach to showering, you’ll still use a good 12 litres. And then you’re going to need water for cooking, cleaning and laundry.
Do also give consideration to the weight that water will add to your leisure vehicle. As well as affecting dandling, it may also influence your vehicle’s payload and Maximum Technically Permissible Laden Mass (MTPLM), which could have implications regarding driving license and caravan towing persmissions.
It’s also worth knowing that as a precaution when staying off-grid, there are a number of ‘waterless’ products available on the market that could be handy to have on board as a fall back to get by before the next refill or in an emergency.
